Some of the earliest photographers are from the eras of the Roman Empire to
the British Empire. William Henry Fox Talbot, was known as The Father of
Modern Photography. He made the discovery of the development of the latent
negative photographic image. A latent image would be created by paper
treated with a substratum of silver iodide and washed in gallic acid in
conjunction with silver nitrate and acetic acid. Another early photographer,
Hippolyte Bayard, was known as being the first person to hold a photographic
exhibition displaying thirty of his photographs. He created the new
technique known as Combination Printing which is the making of pictures from
more than one negative or print.
